Batch Edit Reloaded~

Hello again~!
Simple question: Anyone knows if the Product Batch Edit functionality would require source code to deeply modify? I'm attempting to find a way to change where it looks for items and have it look into our ac_ProductVariants table instead. I'm sure that with enough trial and error I could get a View from SQL to give me what I need instead, but Batch Edit is just so good! I want to use it to search variants and be able to change the variants fields as we would our normal products.
If anyone has a good idea I'm all ears. (Please no Low Inventory ideas though... hahah it's just impossible when you have 1500+ products each with 8 variants! We need to search and narrow down, and so do you!)
