Offer Free shipping on one item

I have one item that I am trying to offer free shipping on. I only want iot to be on the one item.

I tried making this one item be the only item that is 0LB and set up a free shipping "shipping method" that was only good for items without a weight that did not work because it offered free shipping to everyting.

I put the one item in it's own warehouse and made a shipping method for just it. This works, but it is very confusing to customers why they have to chose 2 shipping methods.

Is there a better way to do this?
