Kit Coupon Problems

Hi There,
We have a pretty large issue that there may be a work around for (I hope). Basically, we have a kit where customers purchase an item, then choose what goes in that item. We have created a Product Coupon so that we can promote these Kits heavily but need to limit each unique coupon to one use. (we are giving certain customers unique coupons so we need to hold the redemption to one kit per coupon)
The problem/bug is that limiting the Product Coupon to one use works as long as the Kit is the exact same. But if for example, the customer adds one kit with one configuration and that same kit with a different configuration, the coupon will apply to each row (two times in that order). If though, I add 6 products for example and apply the coupon, it will only work for one of the products. But again, if I add a Kit Product with one configuration and a Kit Product with a different configuration, the coupon will work for each within an order.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I really need a work around if anyone has any ideas.
