Has anyone that uses PayFlow Pro been able to accept PayPal as a tender type in addition to credit cards?

According to PayFlow Pro documentation, you can implement PayPal as a tender type, but must implement PayPal Express Checkout through PayFlow Pro as follows:

Unlike a Payflow Pro credit card Sale or Authorization transaction, which is done with a single request/response pair, an Express Checkout Sale or Authorization requires that you make at least two requests: a Set
Express Checkout and a Do Express Checkout.

If this is not possible with AC, is it possible to use PayPal Express Checkout separately, and still use PayFlow Pro for credit cards?
