Product Batch Edit displays no results

Can anyone explain why product batch edit doesn't display the category results? Every category comes up with "no results for search" I have tried IE8 and Firefox with no luck. I do not have ftp access- only the hosting company does. They can't replicate the problem. I have Norton360 installed. thanks..Ranger Bob
