White edge being placed in images during UPLOAD IMAGE proces

Post by RichWendrock » Fri Mar 18, 2011 6:47 am

After upgrading to version 7.0.6, the product images appear with a white line on one edge after being uploaded using the Images and Assets upload.

Here is a link to one of the affected images.

Have you seen this?

Is there a fix?

We are manually uploading our files as a workaround.
Regards,
Richard

I tried it on my local install. After creating one test product I uploaded an image and it was good. I noticed that image contained at URL pointed by you does have white portion as part of image. When you upload images to ablecommerce via using asset manger does your actual image that you are going to upload contains this white portion in it?

No it does not. Here is another example, http://216.139.230.122/Standard-Kits-C61.aspx

You can see the thumbnail has white on two edges. Click on the Thumbnail to view product details. You will see the product image has no white edge. I uploaded the large product image using the upload in Image and Assets, then I used an FTP program to upload the image that was used in the original upload. I have tried different images, numerous times and this happens every time I upload an image using the uploader in Image and Assets.

Perhaps our copy of the uploader is corrupted. Can you replace our copy of the source code that performs the upload with a copy that you know works? We host with AbleCommerce, Should I open a ticket to get this done? Our Upgrade ticket number is 4954.

Thanks for your help!
Regards,
Richard

The good fairy much have come and fixed the primary image. After moving into production, I could have sworn the problem still existed. That was Monday... Today, I looked again and the primary image uploads OK but the Thumbnail and Icon have the white edge. Did someone from AbleCommerce fix it? If so, please fix the code that creates the Thumbnail and Icon.

Richard

The problem with a white edge being added to images when uploading product images is more than a white edge. When I upload a transparent gif, the entire image has a white background. Please fix this problem. It appears the routine is clearing the buffer with a white pixel. Please clear the buffer with a black pixel so someone else can worry about this problem. The AbleCommerce upload process has been broken for months. even upgrading to latest verison 7.0.7 does not help.
