Backporting Customizations

Post by mouse_8b » Fri Apr 08, 2011 10:28 am

Hello forums,

The Big Question: Have there been changes to ConLib controls since 7.0.2 that will not work properly if they are used with 7.0.2?

The Back Story:
My company is in the middle of a big website overhaul. We are switching hosts, upgrading AC, re-designing the site, and getting a new data bridge to our brick and mortar POS. It's all very exciting.

The new design is finished, but we are still waiting on some of the other pieces. I have integrated the new design into a new AC install (7.0.6, soon to be .7) and it is working fine. However, I'm not sure how long it will take to finish the data bridge, and we can't launch the new server until then, so I was thinking about backporting the theme I made for 7.0.6 into our current 7.0.2 installation. There are a lot of customizations, both to scriptlets and to ConLib controls. I'm sure the scriptlets will move over fine, but it is the ConLib controls I'm worried about. Have there been significant changes to controls since 7.0.2 that may not work with 7.0.2?

I was hoping that I could just copy my ConLib/Custom folder to the old installation and it would magically work. Anyone see any problems?

You are not likely to face a great deal of problems. Most of the things are likely to work. Few things may not work but you should be able to modify them easily. I don't think you will need a huge re-work.
