Customizing category page

Post by mikebill212 » Wed Jun 08, 2011 12:29 am

Hi,

I am customizing category page and making it 2 column.
But some of the category should have 3 column (should have right sidebar). So i had set 3 column layout for particular category, and all categories layout applied to 3 column layout page.

Also same applied for web page. Currently i am running web page under 2 column layout page but some of the web page should have 3 column layout page (with right sidebar).

So is there any way to set different layout as per the category/web page in able commerce?

Thanking you in advance.

Well yes its possible. You can always set page specific layout by going to store side. Then going to category page. Then edit page from bottom edit option. Finally there choose different layout. Now in your case you actually need to create one custom category page. Then you can apply then custom category page as display page for specific category using in page edit options.

Hi,
Thanks for your quick response. :)

Could you please suggest me how to create custom category page?

I have two category pages "abc.aspx" and "xyz.aspx"
I opened "abc.aspx" and at bottom i selected "Y" layout and replaced it with "X" layout. Now "xyz.aspx" was containing "X" layout before. Now after apply "Y" layout to "abc.xyz" i have observed, "Y" layout is also applied to "xyz.aspx"

At bottom on edit, if i change any property (active layout, content, header, footer etc ) to "abc.aspx" same change i can see to "xyz.aspx" as both are containing physical page "category.aspx" so here i found the limitations.

So here i want to keep separate layout (or any property) for category page "abc.aspx" and "xyz.aspx"

Hope this would make you more clear about my requirement.
