Unable to change tracking number link

This issue was brought to my attention after a customer had complained about having an incorrect tracking number emailed to him.

I looked over his order and realized his tracking number was correct, but the link was incorrect. The link was for USPS' tracking system, but the tracking # was a FedEx tracking number.

How do I change the tracking number link on an order, and how did this order get an incorrect link?

The ship method was correct, and the tracking number was correct. The only thing wrong was the link.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Sincerely,
Vishal Hemlani

If your order shipped email was customized to show the tracking number, but you have methods that are called USPS for example, the link could be incorrect because those methods aren't set up to use the USPS live rates. There is code on the forum somewhere to put the tracking number in the email, but if your shipping methods don't use the gateway, then nVelocity code would not know what gateway they came from and would produce and incorrect link. For example, if you have a shipping method called USPS Priority Mail, but it doesn't use USPS but is a custom method, then there is no way for nVelocity to know the gateway because there isn't one.

I haven't looked to see if the tracking link in the outgoing emails are correct/incorrect.

I'm referring to the tracking number link in the order manager.
