How is that better than the IP Firewall under Configure/Security in the AbleCommerce Amin panel?

The IP firewall is good for blocking site attacks and other fraudulent activity on application level and the IPs have to entered manually.

With online services like MaxMind you can implement automated credit card fraud detection and be able to check for IP proxies, detect
IPs already recognized as fraudulent by other merchants, transaction fraud score etc. All service features are available here:

http://www.maxmind.com/app/ccfd_features

PS: My company is not affiliated with MaxMind and has no partnership or other agreements with MaxMind

We've been using MaxMind for several years with great results. We've integrated the test results with our order confirmation emails to automatically alert our staff.

Two thumbs up!

Can you help me understand the difference between the Standard and Premium service? I see the Premium provides more information about Bank Identification Number. Which level do you use?

I found the answer..
Most clients use the standard service. The premium service provides more information about the credit card's issuing bank and whether the card is a prepaid or gift card. For more details, see our minFraud Feature Comparison page.
