Strange issue with IE 10 and admin lately

Post by compunerdy » Wed Jan 23, 2013 3:59 pm

Using IE 10 I go to modify a order line and it kicks a server error like this..

An error has occured at https://www.xxx.com/admin/Orders/Edit/E ... erId=37233 Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown.; Input string was not in a correct format.

I will retry the exact same thing on firefox and it works fine. It also seems to be random as the next order will edit fine.

I have been receiving these errors also lately. I haven't narrowed it down to a browser problem like you have so I'll look into it as well. It has been mainly at the Basket but there have been errors kicked back on regular product pages as well.

I've been getting it in IE10 also. The sites have the IE 10 patch in the Layouts/scriplet.master. I put the patch in Gold in the .masters and even the admin master and still have the problem. I'm trying to find out if the servers have been patched according to the post on Able help. Here is the post:
http://help.ablecommerce.com/upgrades/a ... _ie_10.htm
IMPORTANT UPDATE

Microsoft has confirmed that there are known issues when using the latest IE 10 browser and certain code that might be in Asp.Net 2.0 or Asp.Net 4.0 sites. All AbleCommerce 7.x stores are affected by these issues, so you should carefully read the available options and take corrective action.

Javascript disabled in IE10 due to outdated browser definitions file

ImageButtons do not work in IE10 when using .net 4.0 and older

Microsoft has made an official patch available for one of the issues. It is unknown, at this time, if Microsoft plans to release another patch for the second issue. As such, we are providing a work-around that can be applied to your AbleCommerce store.

You should fix both issues by following the instructions below. These are two different issues and must be fixed separately.

If you are using AbleCommerce Gold, you should still apply the patch provided directly by Microsoft to fix Issue #1. However, this version will not experience Issue #2, except within the Merchant Administration pages. A fix for the merchant pages will be made available in the next upcoming release. In the meantime, access the administration using a browser that is compatible with IE9.

I am unable to use the "login as user" button in IE 10, is this a known problem with able gold 7.0.8?

In AbleCommerce Gold there are three separate master layout files :

Layouts\Base.Master
Layouts\Fixed\Base.Master
Admin\Admin.master

While the first two Layouts\Base.Master and Layouts\Fixed\Base.Master have the correct meta tag <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9" />
site admin master file Admin\Admin.master has different meta tag: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />

According to : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6771 ... nt-ie-edge

"IE=edge" will render all admin pages in IE10 format. I do not know if this might be causing issues.

I have been having problems with checkout. The would be customer gets an error upon clicking "Checkout Now". I wonder how many sales I am losing. Sales have been down quite a bit for the last couple months. I don't know if this is why, but it makes me wonder.

We have been having a large amount of customers report they cant check out and get the error that input string is invalid. A customer of ours works for Microsoft and said it is an issue with IE. Something they changed. Thought it was only in IE10. He said the user can select to run the browser in compatibility mode and it will work. It does. Hasn't failed for every customer I have explained it to and knew how to do that. Problem is most do not. Is there a patch or fix for this?

You would have to contact your hosting provider and ask them to install the required patches on your server. On the AbleCommerce side only a small change
is required in ~/Layouts/Scriptlet.master

They are supposed to be working on it now. They said "We've escalated this to our development team". That was two days ago.
