That's good news!

The file size of the database file won't shrink by itself. The database file is like a separate file system. Inside the MDF there is now extra space that the database will use to hold new records.

If you run a search on Google for "sql shrink database" you'll see how to shrink the database and you'll also see an article on why you might not want to do that.

If 1.5GB does not seem unreasonable, then I see no reason to shrink it. I was just concerned about response time, but our test site on the new server seems to be fine with it.
