Help saving reference id

This seems pretty basic but is new to me and I cannot find the answer here or in the documentation. We're using OnePageCheckOut. I see the functions CheckingOut() and CheckedOut() but neither seems to actually SAVE the order. I'm just trying to save a new field I added to the page to a database field, probably Payments.AccountReference, but I need to know where the saving actually happens.

It is in the CheckedOut event, but I can't remember exactly where to pick it up.
