Volume Discount calculation

how is it possible to get volume discount on total order quantity not on individual product qnty ???
Please suggest it.

Hi,

When you create your discount, you'll be able to select a category or products. You will want to select ONLY the top-most category. Then, you'll need to go to the Configure > Store page and change the Discount setting to 'Group by Category'.

One help needed.
I have created root category but i dnt want show it on client side how can it possible??

That might take some work. There are several pages that would need to be customized, including the product page, basket, and checkout pages that show order summary, invoice, receipt page, and email templates. OK - I have to ask...if you don't want to show the discount to your customers, then wouldn't it be better to set the product price with the discount built-in? I know you probably have a reason, so if you try to explain a little bit more about what you are trying to do, there 'might' be a way without having to customize a lot of pages.

i have created volume discount but currently work on product qnty i want it on total order qnty.
So i create root category as per you told me.
But now issue is i don't want to show root category name in front side.
Just directly want to display its subcategory of root category.
