Reporting this as it may apply to GOLD as well.
Customer places an order during a coupon period that is valid, i.e. Black Friday 2016. However, credit card is declined. Order is now a problem order.
Customer comes back a month later to pay with a different credit card. The order now goes through yet the sale is over (coupon expired).
It's also interesting that the date of the purchase is the original date of the order so I was surprised to see a Nov 28th order email TODAY. I believe the order date should be the date PAID not the date the order was originally placed.

In Gold you can set it so if the CC is declined the order is not created. I wish it worked that way for paypal as well..

Once the order is created, we treat it like an invoice. Nothing is changed regardless of expiring coupons, discounts, or price updates. You can edit the order, of course, to make any updates, but if you use time-sensitive specials or coupons, then it is best to change the checkout setting as Tim suggested.

I wonder if maintenance should change problem orders to cancelled after a period of time, maybe admin controlled in settings?

I'd definitely like to see some improvements in this area. We sometimes get problem orders, or unprocessed because they chose the 'send check' option and the money never arrives. There's not an easy way to remember these orders that are still in a pending state. Some kind of alert would be nice as well as the ability to auto-cancel with a merchant defined setting.
