Questions on features of 7.0

Post by Psalty » Mon Sep 24, 2007 11:38 am

Congratulations on the launch of the Beta. Everything looks really good so far.

A few questions for you:

1. Will Google Analytics be supported out-of-the-box or would this be custom development?

2. Is there any plans to put a pop-up type help field next to option groups for the kits? For example, next to the Processor selection for the build a computer kit would be a question mark for the customers to click on to learn more about how to choose their processor.

3. Will there be a way to disable payment collection for items that are free in the storefront? For example, we give away free classes for customers who purchase certain items from our retail store and use the shopping cart for them to sign up for the classes (This way we can manage inventory). We would rather the cart not even ask for payment when there is none to be collected.

Thanks!

Hello,

1. Is a standard feature which will be in (beta 2). Just enter your google ID.
2. Minor customization to link to the kitted product in pop up window.
3. I've posted an enhancement so that if there is a zero order balance, then it will skip the payment page. (beta 2).

Thank you for your interest and let us know if you should have any other questions.

Shopping Cart Price

Post by Psalty » Mon Sep 24, 2007 1:04 pm

Hello,

Thanks for your answers to the above questions.

One other question:

Is there plans to have a shopping cart price feature? This feature would allow merchants to only show the price of selected items when they are in the shopping cart. This feature is common on sites that sell consumer electronics (Circuit City, B+H, Amazon). It allows merchant to get around Minimum Advertised Price policies.

Hello,

Yes that's an existing enhancement, that will work just like Amazon (see below).

I'd requested that we have 'add to basket to see price'. Amazon, just has
click here to see price and it pop's up in a window. Less commitment on the customers part than add to basket to see price, however it would satisfy the manufacturer requirement that the retail price not be displayed.

Thanks. So is that something that will show up in beta 2 or is it already in the demo and I just can't find it? :-)

Hello,

It's a beta 2 addition. There are 35 other minor enhancements that we didn't want to hold up the beta 1 release for. There is just one major feature that didn't make it into Beta 1: The one page checkout.

Is Beta 2 right around the corner? Do you have an estimated release date for Beta 2?

Thanks!

Hello,

There minor from the standpoint of coding difficulty. Also equally important is the amount of testing involved. I certainly understand that it's a must have feature though.

Something that’s not really a feature, but will certainly stand out when you get the product, is the quality of our architecture and database design!

Hello,

Beta 2 is slated for release October 8th. Due to our internal testing we're not getting a lot of bug reports, so we mostly just have to squash the current issues.

Variable Pricing

Post by Psalty » Tue Sep 25, 2007 8:04 am

I like the variable price feature but was wondering if this could be turned on and off at the customer level thus allowing only certain groups the ability to change their price.

Will this feature globally block the price from every page that the product gets displayed on? From a 'What's Hot' list, 'New Products' or a category page?

Thanks for any info.

Hello,

I was replying on the price showing. The variable price is really for gift certficates and donations, so we hadn't seen a reason to make it group specific.
