i am getting an error: Invalid object name 'ac_AuditEvents'.

Hello,

You will need to do a new install. Is there anything else you can report about how this happened. This is the first I've seen of this issue.
Thanks for your support

i created the database in SQL first
setup the user
when the database was initilizing there where x and o accross the screen
it seems maybe those were passed/failed?

I loaded the 2005 mdf and changed the confing string manually and have the site running now.

also what is the default admin login?

Yes, "x" means something went wrong. I realize this is not enough information to troubleshoot, so for Beta 2 I have amended the installation process. If there are errors during the database creation, it will display them. That will allow us to solve and / or work around them when they arise in the future.

Unfortunately this doesn't help the install that you have. Common troubles are if you select the wrong database type from the drop down, or if you provided a user without permission to create tables.
Cheers,
Logan
