Batch Product Import

Post by drollins » Tue Oct 23, 2007 3:00 pm

I've seen the V5.5 batch update and batching docs but for V7 Beta2 I dont see where I can upload batches of products from the menu and didn't find anywhere in the available docs how to do this.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Hello,

This has been moved to our Dataport utility which runs on your local PC. It can download product/category etc data to excel csv and upload it back to the store via XML webservices.

There will be a beta available of the ultra slick new utility available next week.

Will the import app also accept categories?

I did not see or receive any announcement concerning this utility.

Is his product available now. If not, do you have a better idea of when it will be available?

I would like to get my customer the formatting he needs to upload product to his store via this utility ASAP.

Even if the utility is not ready I would still love to get my hands on the file formats to see which one will work best for my customer.

Hello,

An early beta was released! Since so many people wanted the product batch upload for populating their stores.

Product batch insert/update is working well, the rest of the data client is hit and miss.

Product Batch Import Utility

Post by DonAshby » Mon Nov 05, 2007 7:05 pm

Does this utility in its present form allow you to upload attributes such as color and size along with the products themselves?

What about related products that are already assigned - for cross reference?

We see that it accepts categories too ( is that in the beta version? ) and what about subcategories? :)

Hello Don,

Using product upload the category/sub-category creation/assignment is working, I've not tried the category upload by itself.

I doubt we'll support in CSV format these type's of one to many relationships. E.g. one product to multiple options. The data set doesn't lend itself to flat file format. However XML upload and download will be supported on virtually all aspects of the database.

Thanks Mike

It is very helpful having this Product / Category upload. We have used it with success. So as I understand it, if we want to assign colors (or sizes)to our products ( which we need to do ) we can simply go into the product manager and add the colors one at a time. Or if we want to use XML, we can create a feed from our old site to the new database and do it that way.

Don :)

Hello Don,

Sounds like you got it. Remember to backup your database before trying any of these ideas :)
