Product Meta via HTML Head

Post by DonAshby » Mon Nov 05, 2007 7:11 pm

We see that there is a field in the product manager for HTML Head. We assume that we can populate this box with all the custom META we wish - not just limited to keywords and descriptions: Is that correct?

Will it just take exactly what we enter and put it into the View Source that Google reads? We would like to incorporate some custom fields such as product title, product regular price, product sale price, and URL link to the image, and URL link to the Product Details page, and maybe Mfg SKU too.

We assume that this should just take the standard XHTML format?

Hello Don,

Yes that's correct. Stay away from using meta field 'keywords'.

Hello Mike,

I was just about to add meta field 'keyword' to my products when I saw your posting... Do you mind shed me some light on why we should stay away from that meta field??

Thanks!

Hello,

Meta keywords at BEST are ignored. They might even be a negative, they are so abused that google dropped use of them years ago. There are lots of websites which have information on this if you search google for the tag.

So, if the store owner wants meta keywords, we need to add them ... is this the place?
