Humor: Things NOT to do when testing your live AC7 site

Ok, I need a humor break so here goes...

1. ...Forget that certain test items in your store didn't have a price set - can you say "Free fishing reels?"

2. ...Create an email template with a trigger on order confirmation to text message your cell phone. You're phone won't ring, and AC7 will accept orders without authorizing the payment.

3. ...Use the wrong personal CC info when testing your payment processing. "why isn't it working?!?". Perhaps the better solution is simply own less credit cards....nahhhh.

4. ...Run out of Pepsi at 2am. Delays are unacceptable. Plan ahead.

5. ...Call your very first AC7 customer on the phone. The excitement in your voice of your first AC7 online order will probably just freak him out. Trust me.

6. ...Ask your Mac-loving sister to test your newly published Microsoft-based IIS Asp.Net storefront. It won't matter how well it runs. It's not good enough if it's not flawless in Safari. Mac lovers still think a 4% market share after 15+ years of sales is good. The execs at Novell send their regards.

7. ...Upload vendor product databases without checking for any $23,000 ocean radar systems. You don't want to sell ocean radar systems. You didn't even know you COULD sell ocean radar systems. Nor could you fit your first ocean radar system sale on your credit card.

and last but not least,

8. ...Forget to buy more smokes when you made that 2am Pepsi run.

I feel better already :D

I should have kept a journal of all the boners I pulled when our site was being set up.
I appreciate all your posts and sense of humor.

Lol! This might be my first post here, but after 6 hours of reading these forums straight through and getting to know Joe Payne very well, I had a good laugh at 4am!

I'm rather new to the AbleCommerce community as AC7 is my first Able product. It's been a great learning experience over the last few months.

Plus I like to share my experiences (good or otherwise), thus the 8 billion posts from me. I figure if I can save someone else a headache, then that's one person who isn't going to have the same bad day I had.

Joe,

"Flawless" is being kind. Your CSS falls apart in Safari 3.1. IMHO - not good advertising for A/C 7.0. I know CSS is a big pain, but us Mac lovers have money too!

Best,
Dave

32% of our customers are on Macintosh.
17% of our customers are on Safari.

So we've had to pay a lot of attention to Macs.

Most interesting stat -- look at our fifth-most popular browser:

1. Internet Explorer / Windows
2. Firefox / Windows
3. Safari / Macintosh
4. Firefox / Macintosh
5. Safari / iPhone

My Mac OS/iPhone traffic is 4-5% of my total traffic.
