Guidance with Yahoo and Shopping.com

Post by herchenx » Tue Mar 04, 2008 9:26 am

I can't seem to find where in the world of Yahoo I could upload the file generated by AbleCommerce for Yahoo (in the feeds section)

Do I need to open a Yahoo store or is there some other way of doing this. I am also wondering the same thing about shopping.com

Thanks for any assistance.

We were able to create a Google Base account and upload the xml file manually. It seems that the automated tool within AC doesn't work properly.

My understanding is Yahoo discontinued their online product auction service last year.

I haven't fully researched it though. I had the same problem you're having and couldn't find anywhere to sign up for it on yahoo.com

I know for certain shopzilla.com, shopping.com and yahoo.com all have CPC fee structures. Google is the only one I know is free, and that's only because it's still Beta.

I'm sure it'll go fee-based once it's live just like Google Checkout has done.

It was called Froogle when it came out over 3 years ago - in Beta. Now it is Google Product. Hopefully, it will stay in Beta a few more years.

I think this will be a very powerful too once we all get it figured out.

Did you say that the Summary Field gets overwritten by Google when you do this? Or was that the Product Feed?

Yahoo does have a site explorer you can add your site to.
I don't know how well it works--I could never get it to authenticate.

I though it was because we were using load balanced servers. Our old Yahoo store was always validated OK. Why am I not surprised?

As much as it pains me to say it, the Microsoft bid could actually be an improvement some of their services.
