Paypal setup issue?

I had a customer pay with normal paypal this morning and when he got to paypal the shipping was stripped off the order. Is there a setting I am missing in paypal that would be different since RC2? I didnt have this happen in RC1 that I know of and I havent made any changes to my paypal setup.

EDIT- I just had another do the same thing

EDIT- One of the customers noticed this as I guess the store told him he had a balance so he thought he was just paying the upaid part yet the whole amount was then charged to his credit card.

On a side note how is the system setup to handle paypal E-checks?

There is still another paypal error in RC2 also.

The payments screen only shows one payment now..that parts fixed
But, under summary it shows they paid twice what they actually paid. This happened on two different orders I had today both paid by credit card with paypal gateway.

Mike,

I had thought these issues where fixed so I wanted to see if it was just me. The non charging of shipping is a high priority issue for me so I hope a fix can be found for atleast that portion quickly. I did also post a bug report.

Sadly this issues doesn't appear on the receipt page until a reload so it was missed in testing. Thank you for reporting it to the AbleCRM system so our technicians can find it.

I want to make sure I am clear as to what problems I am having with Paypal and Paypal gateway.


Customer pays via credit card
payment is correct but shows double the amount on some screens

Customer pays with express checkout
payment is correct but order stays in "payment pending" status until viewed and then moves to "payment completed"
(this may have just been a timing issue as to when I viewed the order)

Customer pays with normal paypal
When customer gets to paypal site shipping is stripped from the order.
(I have disabled this option until a fix is found)

I just placed an order on your website using express checkout and was charged shipping. Please cancel the order.

So it's the PayPal IPN that is giving you the trouble? Where the customer selects paypal on the one page checkout and then clicks the paypal icon on the receipt page?

Thats correct. Well..thats the biggest issue since it wont charge the shipping.

We've just re-tested PayPal IPN and we're getting charged for shipping. I'm going to call you and you can re-enable the ipn on your website real quick to see.

Ok..Well the shipping beign stripped off the order was a paypal setting issue that didnt matter in RC1 but did for RC2. Here is the fix if you have this issue.

Log into paypal
click on profile
click on shipping calculations
Image
Delete any options shown
Image
Now under profile it should show up like this

and your problems should be over.

So..my updated list of Paypal problems

Paypal direct and Paypal express checkout

The only bug I see now is that they seem to stay marked as payment pending until you view them and then they switch to payment completed. Does anyone else have this issue?

Paypal gateway credit cards

Double the payment/order amount is shown in the summary and payment pages. The customer can see this and alot tend to think they paid double what they did.

Supposedly there is an alternative fix. If you click into "Shipping Preferences" menu there is supposed to be an option for allowing transactions to override the profile based shipping. I can't be certain, these options do not show on the PayPal test accounts. But if that's the case, it would allow you to retain the PayPal based shipping calculations.

Also, the reason this symptom didn't show for you in RC1 is that we were not sending the breakdown of items. In RC2 we are telling PayPal the shipping amount separately, so on your account it was ignoring this amount.

You are correrct. If you edit the options instead of deleteing them you can turn that off.

I am using RC3 and have seen the same issue with paypal where no shipping charge is being added to the order. I checked for the fix that was posted and that is not the issue. Anyone else on RC3 and seeing the same thing?

Are you getting orders every once in awhile with no shipping charges or all of them? Is your issue that AC calculates shipping but then it is stripped during paypal checkout? Or that AC does not show any shipping was calculated at all?
