Javascript programming question

Ok, I admit it. My wonderful Google Map product page has a flaw.
It doesn't validate the Latitude and Longitude HTML fields to make sure somebody actually MOVED the marker.
Despite the screen saying in huge letters "Step 1: Move the red marker", some customers appear to be missing the entire point of the map.
So, I need to add (presumably in Javascript) a validation to the two HTML fields to prevent the add-to-cart. Any suggestions?
Ideally, I need the add-to-cart button disabled until the fields are populated when the marker is moved. But I'll take a popup dialog or anything else that'll get the job done. Remember, these fields are generated by AC7 from the Product Templates feature, so I don't have any .Net control over them that I know of.
