Bad zip code.

Post by Hostmaster » Thu Feb 21, 2008 1:29 pm

As a test today, my client placed a bad zip code in the shipping estimate.

And while it didn’t break the site, It did take a full minute and a half to error out, anyone know of a way to reduce the error out time?

Hi

We used to use this too but disabled it. We do not use a connection to UPS or to any other carries but instead use a variable shipping cost based on total dollars purchased. In our case, the shipping estimator never worked and errors in all cases - even with correct zip codes. So we disabled it and wonder if anyone else has gotten it to work at all, and if so under what conditions.

We thought it would should work in all conditions, even without a connection to UPS... as the shipping rate would be the same for any zip code - but the customer may like to see what it is going to cost him or her.

Thanks, Don :?: :(

PS. We did NOT report this as a Bug as we aren't sure if we are just doing something wrong or noit.

I had to disable mine as well - I need it badly, customers keep asking about freight estimates and it's burning up lots of my time now.
