We currently only ship to the Contiguous US, and Alaska / Hawaii.
We also sell a lot of product to our US Military, However with our current solution we have them call in. As the
APO AE Address is just a tad different. Does anyone else ship to Military and if so, how do you add a Zone “US Militaryâ€

Clue #1
At the bottom of the above post, it states that UPS does not ship to Military addresses

Glad that you found your answer.
Military addresses receive special mailing rates to help military personnel. This really helps the people overseas. USPS calculates the overseas addresses as if they were located at NY,NY (at least it used to be NY). So this kinda explains why UPS doesn't participate.

well only part of it. I just finished setting up USPS. Now my shipping Estimate does not work at all.
I configured USPS as a second Carrier.
Added USPS Parcel Post and Express Mail as methods both Configured with "us military" as the Zone.
The US Military Zone only has the selected States Provinces of AE.AP, and AA
I am testing From My development Site which is IP based.
Prior to Adding USPS the Shipping estimator worked fine unless a Bad Zip.
Any Ideas?

I'd be curious to see what happens if you only have USPS set up. Right now that's what we have and there are no problems.
I may have read another post about issues with the shipping estimator and multiple shipping carriers. Seems that Joe disabled it completely until a fix is released.

Is there much difference between the way I described it and the way you have it set up?

Mine is diferent. I have all my methods listed as for all zones.

OK
I set all methods back to All Zones. And I deleted the Military Zone. I left the AE,AP and AA in the States and Provinces.
The Shipping Estimate now again works,
But when it list the estimates it only List UPS nothing for USPS shows.
And when placing a Military Zips, Like 09378, 09308
In
I get the dreaded
“No shipping methods are available for the current items and/or the given destination.â€

Additionally none of the USPS Methods are shown to the Customer. They Are however listed in the Shipping Methods just like all the UPS Methods.

What do you have set for the warehouse for those options?

All Warehouses:
I am at this point I’m thinking it’s a USPS issue, so I called and they resubmitted the process to go to production.
When I get the second email from them and test, ill let you know how it works out.

THAT was it!
A nice quick wait on the hold for 45 mins, to get the USPS account actually activated and bam all is well.

OK, that was it as long as all methods where in all Zones.
How do I set this up to work?
So that only the Military Zips get the “militaryâ€

OK so if I select anything other than all for zones in the Shipping Methods, The Shipping estimator Does Not show the Estimate, and if it is a Military Zip and I have that method selected to use the military Zone it is not even in the drop down on check out, in fact there is no shipping option in the drop down on check out.
I set up the Military Zone for United States, with only the 3 Military Provinces AE, AP, AA selected for That Zone.
Is this a bug? Or am I not approaching this correctly?

I think you are overthinking this. Zip codes for military should not show ups by default since ups does not ship to them. I could be wrong but thats how it seems to work for me so there is no need to make seperate zones.

Correct, however A regular Zip Code will show the USPS rates, and We only want to use UPS for all none Military addresses. Hence the Zones;
Which do not seem to be working with the estimator?

OH...I see. Well I have not tried using different zones so I cant really help you there.

It is a confirmed bug that the shipping estimator will only work/include shipping methods set to "All Zones". Able is working on it for us.
