What would be the best way to set up taxes for a estore in Ohio?

Don't let anyone from Ohio purchase anything.
Seriously, I don't think the Able code will handle it the way Ohio is structured unless you go thru and put in all the zip codes and that will not necessarily be accurate for some addresses. For example, my address zip of 45385 can be either Greene or Clinton county, and Ohio rates go by county. Ohio does have a web service that can be programmed against:

Judy,
Have you been able (No Pun Intended) to implement this web service into your AC7 store?

No, I haven't. We were still on Able 5 and I had thought about adding a text box for County and a lookup from there to the rates, but the company (Xtreme) went out of business so I didn't have to do it. If we had stayed in business, I had thought about just paying the state the difference between what we collected from the customer and the highest tax rate possible or trying Certi-tax again.

Judy,
What is Certi-tax?
Also, would setting up a web service from the Ohio Department of Taxation require access to the source code?

The funny thing about Ohio is that it's supposed to be complying with the Streamlined Sales Tax project, but it was a lot easier when we could charge tax based on our location, not the destination.
Here's a link about the project:

Certitax is one of the tax providers that was integrated with Able 5.5. There are some new features in Able 7, but some of the features in 5.5 haven't been implemented yet into 7.

So does implementation of a web service require access to the AC7 source code?

I don't know for sure, but I don't think so. I think there have been some posts in one of the Able 7 forums from people who have set up or are setting up web services.

Washington state started that same crap..we have to charge the tax based on buyer location and not seller. I havent looked into setting it up yet though.
