The maximum quantity field in inventory control

Under inventory control there is a max quantity field to limit "the maximum quantity of this product that can be purchased for an order".

For my products I use a custom customer template to get customer inputs. However, they can still order more than the allowable limit if they enter different information into the custom fields.

For example:

Sku=DVD-0 (max limit is 5)

but the customer can order:

Sku=DVD-0 field1=abc quantity=4
and
Sku=DVD-0 field1=xyz quantity=4

Total DVD-0 for the order is 8 which exceeds max quantity (the total allowable) for that product of 5.

I believe you can track the variants but since this is a template custom field, it somehow doesn't track.

I tried this with the personalized gift certificate in the original Able product sample. I enabled the max quantity to be 5 but I was able to order 8 from the basket on the same order.

Can someone confirm. And why would the max quantity care about the custom template fields? It still should be a product and technically not a variant by definition.

Thanks,
Bruce.

This has been logged as bug 6682. The min/max quantity features do not work when combined with the customer inputs. It treates the basket item with unique input values as a separate product.

Has this been fixed? I don't see it listed in any of the change logs.

Also, is there a way to view pending bugs?
