Deleting Subcategories ONLY

I have created several subcategories which I no longer need. How do I delete them using the admin tool? Deleting the main category is not a suitable option, and I am not experienced enough in the code to do it from there.

Each sub-category in the Catalog has a series of buttons directly to the right of the name in the catalog view. Just click the red "X" to delete the sub-category you wish removed.

Make sure you delete any products in the subcategories first (unless you have them in another category). Otherwise, you will have orphan products that will still show on searches.
