Credit card authorization problem

Credit card authorization problem

I have set the payment gateway mode to live mode.
I started testing it by placing a digital good and checked out using a valid American express credit card. Then I checked the admin panel order summary it shows the result as success. It
shows transaction ID, Authorization number and the status is shown as Authorized, but the payment says 'Unpaid'. I believe that because the payment is showing as unpaid, I am not able to download at the point of check out. Can anyone help me to solve this problem (Why would the payment say 'Unpaid'?).
FYI we have SSL and the digital good activation mode is set to 'Activate on full payment'.

You are set to "Authorize Only". No funds are transferred with an authorization, so technically the order is indeed "Unpaid".

If you are developing a immediately-available digital goods download site, you will have to set your payment gateway to "Authorize & Capture".

Otherwise AC7 will authorize the charge and you must manually capture that charge to consider the order "paid" and release the download lock.

In addition to this you may find that in test mode you are unable to capture.

How do you set AC7 to do an authorize and capture?

Go into the Admin side and select the Configure, Payments, Gateway menu option. Edit the payment gateway you have installed and you will find the radio button for Authorize/Authorize & Capture.

Joe,

I did what you said but I do not see the radio buttons. We are using SkipJack. Any ideas?

Ok, guess I should have checked first for what gateway you were using. I'm not familiar with Skipjack as a gateway.

Do you know that Skipjack supports seperate Authorize/Authorize Capture functionality?

Have you checked with Able to see if their Skipjack gateway supports both?

Some gateway features may not be implemented in the payment gateway written by Able. I know the PayPal and Authorize.Net gateways are written to support almost every feature those gateways support. In all of the other gateways I've seen, there is an option on the Gateway setup screen to select whether you want to Authorize Only or Authorize/Capture.
