Problem with Shipping Zones

I have a site that has 3 warehouses: Free Shipping, Jerky, and Buffalo Gal. There are a number of zones defined and assigned to the warehouses. A 'free shipping' zone is assigned to the 'free shipping' warehouse; UPS ground zone is set to the Jerky warehouse; and various shipping zones are set to the Buffalo Gal warehouse.

If I order a product from the 'free shipping' warehouse along with a product from the 'buffalo gal' warehouse, I get the 'There are no shipping methods available to the selected destination(s)' message.

Any other combination works fine. Orders which ship from any one warehouse work; orders from the 'jerky' and 'buffalo gal' warehouses work, orders from the 'jerky' and 'free shipping' warehouse work but this one combination fails.

I have looked at my client's zone definitions and they look fine. I can't see any problem with any of her warehouse or shipping definitions. I am thinking this is a bug somewhere in zone processing but I wanted to check the forums first to see if anybody else has encountered a similar issue before reporting it.

When Shipping Estimator is called to calculate a freight amount, it will not include any shipping methods set to specific zones. Try changing the appropriate shipping methods to "All Zones" for the particular methods assigned to the warehouse of the product you are testing.

This is a known issue and has been reported several times to Able.

When you say "shipping zones", do you really mean shipping methods? A zone is a definition of a specific geographical region. UPS Ground would not be considered a "Zone", it would be considered a "Shipping Method".

The problem is not with the shipping estimator; it is with the shipping methods presented on the checkout page.

I understand that there are methods and zones, my client chose to name the zones the same as the methods with a slight variation in the name. I shortned them for brevity.

She has 3 warehouses with various shipping methods assigned to each warehouse. She has defined shipping zones and assigned them to the shipping methods. Each product is assigned to a warehouse with these shipping methods/zones.

The problem occurs when choosing a product assigned to the buffalo warehouse which is assigned various shipping methods such as DHL, UPS ground, UPS second day air, etc and a product assigned to the free shipping warehouse. Each of these methods have zones restricting what provinces they can ship to because she sells meat products with shipping restrictions.

All combinations of the shipping work except for the one above.

My apologies - I recognized the message in the OP as being from the shipping estimator and due assumptions from there.

It almost sounds as if the free shipping warehouse doesn't have the same method/zone setup as the other shipping methods.

Does the shipping method for the free shipping warehouse have the same zone setup as the regular shipping methods? From the sound if it, the free shipping warehouse zones are different from the other zones and the ship calc routine can't match up all the line items to a common zone.

Just for clarity, the problem only occurs when a free shipping warehouse item is added to the order i.e. ordering something assigned to the Buffalo warehouse by itself works fine?

Yes. Each warehouse has its own set of shipping methods/zones.

So when you order from the free shipping warehouse, there is one set of zones involved and when adding a product from the buffalo warehouse, there is another set of zones.

When combining products from these 2 warehouses in an order, the free shipping box shows up correctly at checkout but the dropdown for the buffalo shipping methods is empty and the 'no shipping methods' message is generated.

Again, it is only with this combination of warehouses that it fails; any other combination works fine, for example a product from the free shipping warehouse and a product from the jerky warehouse.

Ok. So I presume at this point you have confirmed the shipping zip code of the order indeed matches to a zone in each of the warehouses involved?

Your client using wildcards on the province line of the zones? I guess that would be the next question is specifically HOW are the zones defined?

Are these shipping zones mutually exclusive? I mean no over-lapping?

Thanks for all your help.

Able figured it out. For some reason, the state in my profile was changed from the correct one of NJ to Alabama when I went through checkout. After correcting the state, all worked as designed.
