Credit card validation patch installed - admin server error

I installed the cardvalidation patch today viewtopic.php?f=45&t=6857&p=28789&hilit ... tch#p28789

I'm getting a server error on the admin side (copied below) - the store side seems to be working (as far as I can tell).
I don't know if there is a connection between the patch and the server error but I've compared the two files mentioned: catalog.master and admin.master to the original build.

admin.master is identical to the original build except for one line
catalog.master is identical to the original build
I see user controls in each referring to footerpanel

Error Message
The type TypeName1 exists in both TypeName2 and TypeName3

Two different assemblies referenced in your application contain the same namespace and type, which produces ambiguity.

To resolve this error, use the alias feature of the /reference (Import Metadata) (C# Compiler Options) compiler option or do not reference one of your assemblies.
I resolved it by deleting the offending line :lol:

Perhaps it will be resolved better in the next update.

This looks more like something hiccuped with ASP.NET temporary files. I have seen this occur on occasion when files are updated. When you removed the line from the file, ASP.NET recompiled it again and corrected the problem in its temporary files.

If you have access to the server, one way to correct this is to put a file into the root of your website called "app_offline.htm". Then go to this folder:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files

Find the folder that matches the name of your ac7 application and remove it. Then remove the app_offline.htm file.

This should cause ASP.NET to recompile those temporary files and clear up the hiccup.

I don't understand ... this folder is empty.

we're working on it ... I thought it was referring to my c:drive ... server guy is trying to resolve it now. thx

Logan, on the recompile.
Does this really happen, or do I just think it happens? A couple of times when things haven't changed on the site or I have had errors, I go to the admin, logos and images and upload the logo again.

Interesting. I wouldn't think so, but then again you are modifying a special ASP.NET folder (App_Themes) so maybe that triggers it. I would have to check.

Still, I don't think it would be the full recompile that is triggered by removing the temporary files. That completely clears the disk cache for ASP.NET, where other things tend to cause a recompile of only a subset of files.
