I had serious performance issues with AC7 on DiscountASP 9 months ago. I moved to my own server co-located at a data center.
Your mileage may vary, but at $9.95 a month for all the hosting features you get what you pay for.

How much do I need to spend a month to get good performance?
Right now, I have a webstore hosted by DiscountASP.net that
performs good. Is the performance issue with the AC7 product in particular? thanks

I had AC7 to begin with on a shared host and lots of others do also. The only problem I have seen has been with the Data Client utility. Ac7 runs pretty good on a shared host in my opinion. I currently have a VPS which gives you a lot more control which is nice but then you need to spend around $60 a month.

The Data Client utility works on a shared hoster now.
