Hello,
i am trying to use price rules to create specials , however there seem to be a bug .
After i am done , the price appears in the website as following :
i have an item which i am selling for $53.99 . when i made a price rule for it to have it for 48.99 , the result ::
Price : $48.99
Special Offer: $48.99 ends 22/8/2007

This may look confusing . How would the customer know there is really a special offer on the product ??
it should look :
Price : $53.99
Special Offer : $48.99 ends 22/8/2007

Any idea how to fix this ?

Hi there,

I went ahead and reported this as a display issue. My suggestion in the bug report was to simply show:

Price : $53.99 This special price ends on 8/22/2008

(The value for "Price" must be what is used for basket calculations. The other fields are for display purposes.)

If you want to show the regular/original price, then enter a value in the Retail field for the product. You could do this now as a work-around.

If you have a better suggestion, please let me know.

i think it would be better to display the current price and the special price . customers usually do not know the price of each item , and they won't know how much they are saving from the special if there is no current price ..
the problem with using the work-around you mentioned is that i dont want to lower the price and then change it back again .. it is better as a special since it can expire

This seems like a valid argument. I will update the bug report and see if it will be possible.

The developers worked on it this morning, but it still needs to go through a review and testing process.
