licensing error in early builds of ac7_b9879

Post by ryanstowasser » Tue Jul 29, 2008 2:28 pm

I hit the updating license key error that is described at http://bugs.ablecommerce.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6720 in my demo site. Other demo sites that will be expiring right about now might also have this error.

The update provided through the link above will give you the latest versions of the dlls that will fix this issue. Also, I downloaded a new copy of the ac7_b9879 from the site and the dlls are updated in it.

The 2 dlls are :
CommerceBuilder.Services.dll
CommerceBuilder.Configuration.dll

the bad version is 7.0.9344.0
the fixed version is 7.0.9733.0

I am very new to ablecommerce, and I don't know where to look to see if the build I got was RC3 or the Final release. All I see is that the file name for the zip I downloaded was the same.

Are there multiple versions of each build? I don't mean to be naggy, I just want to make sure I have the latest set of files for the sites that I am building.

In merchant admin go to Help -> About Ablecommerce.
Check the Build number. If it is 9879 you are using 7.0 final. If it is 9381 you are using RC3.

AC 7.0 Final Build 9879
Release Date: 06/24/08

AC 7.0 RC3 Build 9381
AC 7.0 RC2 Build 8839
AC 7.0 RC1 Build 8272

I can tell you what happened to me.

I downloaded the b9879 version at the end of June, somewhere between the 24th and 30th. it was probably either the 24th or 25th. The zipped file was named ac7_b9879.zip, but when I checked the version today (July 30), it was RC3. Seems like a previous version of RC3 was made available by accident instead of the Final Release version. It would explain some of the weird reports of bugs coming back from the dead. The version of b9879 that I downloaded this morning from the site has a few hundred changed files from the version I originally downloaded.

If you received the same version as me, you will need to upgrade to the final release. I am early enough in the process that I just reinstalled a clean copy from the new zip file.

Other symptoms I had was the DataPort beta would not connect to any of my databases. The error was "Data at the root level is invalid. Line1, position 1." It was just that the dlls were an old version.
