File export

When i'm opening a .csv export file in excell 2007 i'm prompted in an import wizard with a file origin selection which includes Unicode (UTF-8), Unicode (UTF-7) and US-ASCII, among many others. Which of these would i use to open the file.

I've found that when i open a file (using any of the options above, if the file includes a product's "Description", field which includes HTML, the tags cause the description to expand over several different cells. This causes a major clean up to get all of the description back into one cell.

As well, I've seen strange characters such as boxes, question marks and other characters have replaced letters and character's such as quotes and apostrophies and other foreign language letters

Example:
 has replaced an apostrophy ( ' )
o?= has replaced an apostrophy
Carly Simon’s - ’ has replaced an apostrophy
MANá - SUEñOS LIQUIDOS - should read MANÁ - SUEÑOS LIQUIDOS
MICHAEL BUBLé should read MICHAEL BUBLÉ
Toby Keith / Shock’n Y’All should read Toby Keith / Shock'n Y'all
Johnny Cash – My Mother’s should read Johnny Cash / My Mother's
Velásquez should read Velásquez
THE REAL BOOK: SIXTH EDITION / FOR ALL “C” INSTRUMENTS
the characters represent the letter C

is there a pattern here, cause there are many other examples as well?

I have tried a CSV with Excel 2007 and worked fine. Have you imported it properly? Could you attach a sample CSV and provide some more details that how to reproduce it.

Select all the CSV contents by pressing CTRL+A then select the Auto fit column width option. Read the following link it will help you understand how to do it

Excel 2007 has many new issues with importing text files that did not exist in Excel 2003. If you have it available, try it on a Excel 2003 install - might just work better for you.
