Problem with Kits and Product Pricing

I sell printed items like business cards...when I created my main products say "14pt Business Cards" the shopper has several choices to make...1: QTY (1K to 25K, all different prices) 2: Proofs (PDF, or hard copy) 3: color sides (if they want full color on the front and back or what). Now i have it pretty much down, but for the qty i need it not to change my base price. When i made a kit of QTY...1,000 - 2,500 - 5,000, my base price is $72.00 and i want that price on the pages cause i have "As Low As..." on like featured items. But the only way for it to work is if i put the price difference in and that looks weird to customers ordering, it looks like 5,000 cards is only $86.00, but in fact they are $158. I tried using the kit, and it gives the option of Modify price and use fixed price, but they give the exact same results, am i doing something wrong?

What Im trying to do is override the price and i know options/variants do that, but with 5-8 options i would have like a hundred or more price variants to do, and with over 1000 sku's that would take a life time...do bad i cant just import a perfect excel sheet, the able commerce one doesnt include all the kits :( and that would be awesome :) haha can you say new feature?

But that's exactly what you have. You're just taking a shortcut when you go sell it.

Have you looked at having just one price as the maximum you charge for the least amount of printed cards and implement volume discounts? Then when people buy a quantity greater than 1, you can scale the pricing to increase the savings using the volume discount features.

Other than volume discounts, I think your only real solution is some programming changes to the buyproductdialog user control.
