Kits not working when entered from Admin menu

We have run into a problem. When entering an order from the Admin interface, 'kits' are not including the individual items that comprise the kit. The same item ordered via the front end does include the items, so we know that the kit is entered correctly. This means having to follow a 'phone order' that includes a kit item with having to go back and manually adjust the inventory for each item in the kit.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

Please post a bug for this. I brought it up before and it seemed to be fixed but only part way. If I remember correctly if the kit has selectable items it works fine but if the kit only has included items then it doesnt work correctly.

Yes, I've noticed the same thing. On mine, I have an item that has selectable kit options (either different sizes, or case quantities of sizes). If I try to add items to an order after the initial order, it will add to the cart, assigning the whole kit option's price (ex, $29.99 for 12 bottles of algaecide) to each bottle... So, it would show up as
Algaecide 12 Pack 1lb.......QTY 1 @ $0.00.........$0.00
Algaecide (1 lb). ...QTY 12 @ $29.99 ............$359.87
This will only occur when adding additional items to an order. It works the opposite way initially, setting "Fake" product to $29.99, and each single bottle as $0.00, which works correctly, and only charges customer $29.99.

heinscott,
Kits where just changed in SP1 to work as you described. The parent (fake item) no longer has the price associated to it but instead the sub items (real items) hold the price. This was done to fix things like exporting to quickbooks etc. The inital way it was done you would have no sales amount for the real items and only for the fake parent item.
This is only if you have the parent item set to $0.00 price I believe. I dont use any of my kits where the parent item is a real item so I am not positive but that would make sense.

Unfortunately, it's not working that way for me. See, the price I describe, is stored in the kit options. So, for instance, I make a kit part, with the real product Applied Biochemists Algaetrine (1 Qt). I have it using a Fixed Price of 10.75, not the product price, with a Kit Quantity of 12. Now, this works perfectly everywhere EXCEPT for when adding an item to an existing order. In this case, it takes this kit price and multiplies it times the qty instead.
Does it work that way on yours? I've upgraded to Final, so, I'm pretty sure this is some kind of bug.
Let me know

Well if its only a issue while adding it via admin after the order was placed then it should go along with the bug that brewhaus just posted. So may as well see what becomes of that before posting another. Do you have a link to one of these products in your store?

Yeah, sorry about that. I was just confirming the problem, I guess. Pretty much all of my products (well, at least 600) are setup this way.
Here's one with a bunch of kit options.

Ah I see. I like your image setup.
On a side note. What is a good automatic inground pool cleaner?

Well...
A Polaris 360 works pretty well, and is fairly affordable. If you have the money to spend, the Aquabot T2 definitely cleans better, and more efficiently.
It's all preference, though... I don't really know all the specifics, though... I just do the web programming!

We just tried placing an order today for a 'kit' item, and still have the problem of the kit not including the items within the kit when adding to a customer's order via the admin area. When customers order from the store, the kit includes all of the items. When ordering via the phone and we place the kit into the order, the items that it is built from do not show up.
Has there been anything further on this?

Great! We can wait, as long as we are aware of how we need to handle kits until the fix is out.
