Trial Problem

Hi

I've been using the 30 day trial with a online application and been getting to grips, managing to 'import' a site I'd designed outside of AbleCommerce for emarketing.

I've been regularly saving each page/page template so I can test it in the browsers. A few minutes ago I had been working on the site for about 2hrs when it suddenly reverted back to how it was at the beginning of those 2 hours. The main style.css stylesheet seems to have saved and not reverted, so I think it's only the 'Edit Page' mode (Active layout, header layout etc.) at the bottom of the page when viewing each section, which isn't permanently saving

Does anybody know of a reason why it keeps doing this? I hope i've explained it OK, any questions please ask. I've been getting on well with the program and don't want this to put me off using it.

Thanks
Rich

The customized version of the scriptlets goes in the App_Data/Scriptlets/Custom folder. Did you removed something form here. In fact if you have something in some custom folder then it takes precedence over the defaults other wise the defaults will be used.

I haven't removed anything from App_Data/Scriptlets/Custom.. well not on purpose, as I don't know how to access this file.

It just did it again and all I did was edit the styles.css file. It allowed me to save probably 10-15 times, then after a while it decides to just get rid of the changes in the layout I've made (e.g. deleting [[ConLib:SimpleSearch]]) and revert back to a previous state. It keeps the edited CSS though.

Sorry to be a pain but it's driving me crazy :(

sure

It's nowhere near complete but I don't want to keep working on it when it does this (oh and I have edited the layout again about 5 minutes ago. it hasn't changed back to its original state this time round... yet)

Also, make sure you are changing your page designs in the right place. If you use edit mode on the pages and change anything in the bottom section- where you select the columns, etc, it changes every thing for every page that uses those displays.

I feel like a bit of an idiot... all that was happening is that i wasn't clicking 'apply' underneath the layout panel. Didn't think there was a need as it was updating anyway

But thanks for the quick responses!

it just did it again.. I'm starting to think ablecommerce might be resetting the server for some reason? I really don't get it

I have noticed this as well, and could not figure out why this occurs. Sometimes, when I edit a scriptlet from the online editor (store side when logged in as admin), the changes I make will not be saved. In order to fix, I have to manually edit the scriptlet, and re-upload to server.
Seems wierd behaviour to me also, and there seems no repeatable sequence to cause this anomally.
I can give specific examples on my site, too, if it helps.

I had some trouble yesterday on a site. I mostly edit outside the Able interface and had made a lot of changes that way to the store header, which was in the custom folder. Then I had one more tweak to make so I edited it in the site from one of the category pages on the front end. When I saved it, the header reverted back to showing the original Able header. When I looked at the custom file, it was still mine. So I emailed the merchant to see if he had been working on it and about 1/2 hour later he said he hadn't. I checked the text in the category page edit again and at that time it showed up with the original Able header text. I had a backup so I copied it into that box and then the header changed.
