Advice request for Able Commerce 7.0 Project

Post by SteveG » Wed Sep 03, 2008 4:08 am

Hi,

I'm developing an E-commerce site for a client of ours who has decided to use Able Commerce for their existing website. The problem we're facing is the complexity of the client’s situation; I will break it down into 3 parts:

Firstly the stock management is been done by an existing system which they want AC to rest on, all stock quantity and product detail information will be maintained on this custom 3rd party system.

Secondly the existing website is using a content management system and they want AC to be integrated into this rather than replace it. As far as we can see this means stripping AC down to just its API and using that to manage the shopping carts etc.

Thirdly the customer is based in the EU and thus requires support for localisation, thankfully the two previous points sort this out as the CMS system supports multiple languages as does the product management system. The only problem is with the way AC handles tax, VAT and B2B transactions in particular.

All together these issues seem to cut AC down to just the core API with the entire frontend replaced and schedualed database synchronisation with the inventory system. Has anyone else done anything similar to this and how can we best utilize AC in this situation?

Kind Regards,

Steve Green
