1. Be logged in as an admin that can edit pages
2. go to the store page you want to set meta tags for
3. toggle "edit page" in footer
4. observe what is being used as "active layout"
5. go to admin
6. go to website _> content and layout
7. locate the layout scriptet in use for the page
8. click the copy button, you will be taken to the edit screen for your copy
9. enter a name that is appropriate (e.g. HOME PAGE)
10. In the header field, enter your meta tags...
11. Click Save to create the new page layout (including meta header)
12. Return to the store page
13. toggle "edit page" in footer
14. set the layout to the one you created
15. Click OK to set the page to your new layout

I adopted the above procedure to put meta tags in the header section of various caetegory pages. But the various copies which i created for every category page gets mixed up. For eg. following files are created from the original Right Sidebar file
Right Sidebar_Batteries
Right Sidebar_Carry Cases
Right Sidebar_IPOD Accessories
Right Sidebar_Networking Devices
Right Sidebar_Projectors

When these files are saved in the respective category pages, the batteries page is showing carrycases meta tag file, networking devices is showing ipod accessories file and so on.

Can some one explain where have i gone wrong?

Make sure that each page is using the layout created for it.

All the categories created are using the page "Right Side Bar" Hence I have created copies of this Right Side Bar, renaming them to correspond the categories which they represent. But still the pages are getting mixed up. How do I resolve this?

Please check that the files you created contains relative data, there might be some thing wrong when copying and pasting the files to create scriptlets. Also make sure to apply proper layout files for different pages.
After creating all these Right Sidebar extensions with meta tags all you need to apply these on the pages respectively. For example the page on which you want to include the meta tags from Right Sidebar_Batteries scriptlet, you need to apply Right Sidebar_Batteries as layout. For this just edit the page in browser and select Right Sidebar_Batteries scriptlet for layout of the page and same for all others.

I have checked all possible options. But the meta tags still gets mixed up. The content section, pasted below from "Rightside Bar" scriptlet is the only one which is constant for all the different categories of pages. Do I have to make changes to this everytime i create a new category page? Apart from this there is no reason the category pages should get mixed up. Please check my site http://www.itsouq.com and click on the categories iPOD Accessories and Networking Devices. You can see that the meta tags of these pages belong to "Carry Cases".
When I click on edit at the bottom of the page and check, the layout of "Carry Cases" have slipped in although I had saved the layout as iPOD Accessories and Networking Devices.

It seems to me that you are missing something. I am writing some steps here please make sure that you confirmed each of them.

1)- Create 5 copies of App_Data\Scriptlets\Default\Layout\Right Sidebar.htm file into
App_Data\Scriptlets\Custom\Layout\ and give them names as below
Right Sidebar_Batteries
Right Sidebar_Carry Cases
Right Sidebar_IPOD Accessories
Right Sidebar_Networking Devices
Right Sidebar_Projectors
2)- Modify and put related meta information in each file
3)- Now open a category on store side let's suppose the Batteries and then select the Edit option form the bottom. Now change Active Layout to Right Sidebar_Batteries
4)- Now like step 3 apply all new layout scriptlets with meta tags to their appropriate categories
5)- Confirm that each category page has its own meta information

I have done exactly as you have mentioned. But still it gets mixed up. I have observed a pattern in this mix up. When I save the "Rightsidebar_Batteries" scriptlet in the "Batteries" category, and go on to the next scriptlet "Rightsidebar_CarryCases" and save it in the "Carry Cases" category, and revisit the page, the "Rightsidebar_Batteries" gets stored in the "carrycases category". In other words the scriptlet of the previous category gets saved in the current category page. http://www.itsouq.com

Maybe there is an issue with the type of meta tags which i have incorporated in each of the categories. I am listing below the type of meta tags which i am trying to put. Hope you will find a solution to this mix up.
