Partial capture question

We are struggling with a client on the backorder problem. They would like to do partial captures, but right now have authorize.net, which doesn't support it. Does anyone have experience with Payflow Pro and how the partial capture works on that gateway? When you do the partial capture, can you easily capture the remaining balance later? There was some discussion in another thread regarding modifications to Able 7 to promote handling backorders, and it sounded like that was put on a feature request list. Is that still in a request list, and are there any ideas on which release that might be in?
