Specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail..

I am getting the following Error message sent to me by my Global.ashx file every time a customer leaves an Order Note

Error Message: The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address.

The customer's email addresses looks fine. They are in a valid format.

In AC admin my mail server is setup mail.mydomain.com with port 25.

I read one other post where someone mentions getting this error also. Any ideas?
