Bundled Product problems

Post by Nick » Wed Oct 29, 2008 2:33 pm

Hi all, thanks in advance for you help.

I need to be able to add a new "virtual" product that is made of of two existing products. The bundle with have a unique name, price, description, and part number/sku. I would also like the individual products of the bundle to be hidden so the shopper doesn't know he is actually purchasing multiple things, but shown after the order for fulfillment purposes. Also, all 3 will be actively sold within the store.

I have been playing with kits/bundles and it doesn't look like this is possible.

Ideally I'd like to catalog a new product and select its components from existing products.

Thanks again.

This is completely possible..I have many products set up this way.

Make your fake new product and then add the other items as hidden components. The only place it will show the break down is on your invoices and the customers final copy..it wont show during the checkout process.

Thanks compunerdy.

So do I create a new product and then create a kit for that new product? Will the originally created product display for sale as well as the kit? How does the pricing work; Will the prices from the components pull all the way over to the created product, or just up to the kit?

You add items to the main item which in turn makes it a kit. The main item and kit are the same thing basically.

Will the originally created product display for sale as well as the kit?

Same answer as before. There is no difference between the created item and what you are calling the kit.

How does the pricing work; Will the prices from the components pull all the way over to the created product, or just up to the kit?

I leave the newly created kit parent item at $0 and have the kit items define the price. This makes it so if you adjust the single item later it will automatically adjust your kit price as well. If your setting the items up to be at a discount compared to buying them seperate there is options for that as well.
