Dataport question for developers

Post by trozzi » Mon Nov 03, 2008 3:42 pm

Question for DataPort Utility Developers

We are completing the extraction of a 5.5 store and have several areas that have a significant amount of transactions.

Orders 140,000
Users 225,000

Are there any known limitations to importing large numbers of transactions into a 7.0 store using the dataPort utility?

Thanks
Thomas

I don't know if I've done that many, but the data port really does well with large amounts of data. It takes a while, but I didn't get out of memory errors or anything like that. It was harder getting that amount of data out of the Able 5 store. If you can't run the client utility on the server, then you will probably have to change the export page to save to an xml file rather than display the generated data into a text box like it does now. It wouldn't hurt to get rid of anonymous users and wishlists also.

There are no limitations for data while importing to AC7. It will take some time when importing that large data but as Judy suggested it is better to clean up your data by getting rid of anonymous users etc.
