Using lowercase in the URL causes error

I just found this out today and would like to share in case it is a bug. I'm pretty sure it is. I remember a similar issue with my 5.5 version that was patched and fixed.

Okay by default a category URL would look like this: /Shoes-C1.aspx

You can change the case on "Shoes" to either all uppercase or all lowercase and the page still works. But, if you change the "C" to lowercase you will get a page does not exist error.

Confirmed. Both my sites exhibit the same behavior.

Is there a way to find out when a bug (like the one above) is fixed? Does the fix get posted on the forums for download or do we wait for the next release of the program containing the fix?

It depends upon the nature of the bug, if the fix for some bug could be patched then we may release a patch for that bug otherwise these fixes will be available in some future version.

Is there any chance a patch could be released to fix the lowercase c issue in the URL?

I have a global.ascx error reporting file on my server and I have noticed there are quite a few search engine spiders that, for some reason, convert the URLs to all lowercase which in turn causes a Page Does Not Exist Error which in turn gets the page removed from their search engine index.
