AbleCommerce Shopping Cart Software

I want to change the way I view my products for a specific product category. I would like to view this category almost in a form of a spreadsheet. Where the icon, name, description and "Add to Cart" button is on the same line. I've tried to use the different layout for the "Content" items, like Category Grid, etc..., but the page empties out and no products are displayed (using the Search.aspx page).

In order to accomplish this, would it be a customization, or am I missing something in the documentation that explains what the different content layouts are? Also, any helpful links to how other people accomplished this would be nice.
