Store Lag - Processing Graphic
I've noticed that quite often the software will "hang up" for 30-40 seconds and I get the white window that says "processing". We're seeing this in the front end and back end of the store. I've searched the forums and found a few references to this issue, but nothing clear or conclusive. For example it's mentioned in this thread, viewtopic.php?f=42&t=7676&p=32442&hilit ... low#p32442
I think our customers are starting to run into this.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Well I have checked the store AJAX by adding some product to the baskets. It looks fine to me 2-3 second AJAX wait screen duration. The reason for a slow AJAX response could be the Server speed factor and resources as well.

Thanks Mazhar, it's very inconsistant. We have an internal DEV server, perhaps I'll do some additional testing there. I'll let you know if I find anything.
Your quick response is appreciated.

I'm stilling getting reports about this.
One of our customer wrote to us today:
I've been monitoring store usage, web server traffic and bandwidth usage. None of these appears to be particularly high.
Suggestions???
One of our customer wrote to us today:
The Manager who runs the store reported the following:I've been trying to place an online order for a couple days, but there seems to be an eternal hang-up on the website.
When you toggle from the shipping info window to the payment info window a small, white, square dialog box pops up with counter-clockwise spinning dots and the word PROCESSING.
This continues for hours (I suspect it would go for days if not stopped).
I can never actually activate the payment window to enter my credit card information and complete the transaction.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, is it likely to be fixed soon? If so, when?
My test order today went right through, however I have seen this intermitantly throughout the store. I can get around the issue, by pressing the stop button, then hitting enter again. The page usually loads instantly. This is the second email this morning regarding this problem. I have had people mention this in recent weeks also.

Re: Store Lag - Processing Graphic
I was making a purchase from another webstore today. It's not my own, but I recognized it as an able commerce 7.x store. I saw the same thing on that store, the processing graphic popped up and never went away. I hit refresh and the operation completed correctly. This is exactly what I am seeing on my own store.
I've contacted the owner of that store with some questions, but don't feel comfortable listing who it is on this forum post without their blessing first.
I love AbleCommerce 7.x but would love to get to the bottom of this.

Your homepage took a long time to load for me. What kind of hosting bandwidth do you have?, maybe that could be part of the problem.
The other thing is what is your site traffic like? If you get little website traffic, your website might be going to sleep, which would cause it to operate like it does, especially during the checkout process. You could always set up a program to ping the website x times a day, so that it doesn't go to sleep.

Re: Store Lag - Processing Graphic
For some browsers, Able 7.0.2 has some fixes in it. For example, Safari browser was having the problem and that is fixed.
You site does seem to be slow, though.

We've got 7.0.2. We're hoping to upgrade the server and perhaps add a second T1 in the Fall, perhaps that will help.

Re: Store Lag - Processing Graphic
I don't think this has anything to do with AbleCommerce. It seems to me like you have a poor connection to the Internet on that server. It is simply very slow, no bandwidth, and again, nothing at all to do with AbleCommerce. AbleCommerce simply says "show this picture" but it's coming from the file system so it's your server that is serving it to the internet. I suggest another internet service provider, you may be out of or exceeding bandwidth etc.
Sorry!
