Subscriptions - how does a customer cancel?

Hi,

I have two questions about subscriptions -

1. How does a customer cancel a subscription?

2. Where can we define the email that notifies a customer that his subscription is about to renew?

I would appreciate help on these topics, I have searched through the forums and see very little information regarding subscriptions.

1. How does a customer cancel a subscription?
Customer him/her self can't cancel the subscription only admin can. Customer can send an Email requesting the cancellation of his/her subscription to the merchant and then store merchant can cancel it. The cancellation option is available with the order in the left nav's Subscription menu item.
2. Where can we define the email that notifies a customer that his subscription is about to renew?
Currently this isn't possible to automatically send an Email alert for subscription renewal. A possible work around could be to create a report that list the subscription which are going to expire and then manually trigger the Email for those subscriptions. Please read the following post about how to create such report which could be used for sending Emails.

I'm on it :P

Never worked with subscriptions. Of course, I never imagined a subscription-capable system lacking the ability to notify (anybody) of pending subscription expirations either. How are site admins keeping track of their customer subscriptions that they've sold??

I'll set up some test subscriptions and see how they work.

With Authorize.Net, you have the ability to receive automated subscription status emails from them. It will tell you what subscriptions are coming due. Not ideal, but better than many Post-It notes scattered on your monitor.

I have reviewed doing subscription renewal reminders. They appear to be quite easy so adding that ability to my job scheduler should be no problem.

My question is how do you want it to work?

I was thinking: Set up a 1st renewal reminder and 2nd renewal reminder. Each would have a separate # of Days Before Expiration parameter. That would let you send a couple of reminders, say 30 days in advance and 10 days in advance.

Last but not least, does there need to be some sort of notification, site admin or customer or both, when a subscription has ultimately expired?
