Is there any way that Volume Discounts can be turned off for specific groups? We do not wish to offer discounts to wholesale accounts (they are already discounted), but need to offer the volume discounts to retail and new customers. As retail and new customers are not part of a group, the only way to have a volume discount extend to them is to have the discount apply to 'all groups'.

The 'non-group' that everyone is placed into by default is not a selectable option if you try to offer the discount to only selected groups. Is there a way to add this 'group' to the list and make it selectable? If customers are going to be tossed into a non-group (really, just a group without a name), then this group should be selectable for all options.

I looked into this a little further, and customers are not in a group by default. Is there any way to have have new customers added to a pre-set group instead of being in no group? This would allow volume discounts to apply to mail order customers, but not wholesale customers who already receive discounted pricing?

Yes you can place the users into a predefined group through code. Please have a look at the following code
