Communication Preferences - More locations?

Post by Robbie@FireFold » Mon Jan 19, 2009 10:23 am

Hey Everyone,

I don't use the Able email manager, but I'd like to start taking emails in when someone registered. I see the Communication Preferences(aka join the email list) in the Your Account section. I dont see it anywhere else.

How can we get it to when someone registers they have the option to take the newsletter? Very common practice in E-Commerce.

You can use the SubscribeToEmailList ConLib control. Provide the your caption and EmailListId for desired Email list and put the control in store pages.

Is it possible to have ONE sign up link that would give the shopper the option of selecting what list they want to join within the single link?

I actually found it added itself in the checkout process. Pretty much what I was looking for. It's on the last page right below the shipping information.

Next question - I tried to export the list. It made a blank CSV file. Am I doing it wrong?

The file size is 0 bytes so I assume something might not be working correctly.

The checkout position is great but what if the shopper is not buying anything?

We actually use a more powerful mailer then what Able provides. I would recommend buying it from Joe here - http://www.ablemods.com/Absolute-Newsletter-P33C14.aspx

See it live in action on the right side of my site - http://www.FireFold.com. It's highly modded for us(we love to mod).

I will be exporting the Able news letter sign ups to Xiagla software.

Tried at home. Same issue - 0 byte file.

Can someone else confirm this issue?

It seems to be working on my AbleCommerce install. Have you any customization in that part.

You can try the ConLib/CommunicationPreferencesSection control for registered users. It will output the very same thing for Email lists as under the My Account page.

Bet you wish you had a way to schedule that eh?

Muwahahah

Is Xigla Newsletter still working well for you? I've thought about it a few times but never enough to jump into it.

One thing AC7 lacks is a one-click-unsubscribe link that can be put into email templates. I presume Xigla Newsletter has something towards that need?

Not sure what you mean on this.

We have never touched the email section. All stock. I get a file that opens and looks correct. Just nothing inside the file.

I would love the ability to schedule that export and have it work automatically. Joe for 2012(only if you can make this stuff happen).

I've never used Able's, but Xigla's is feature friendly. Schedule emails to auto send, send them out in small batches, track customers clicks, etc. It's also a good organizers so we can look at previous newsletters with ease.
